  AYICC Structure, Goals & Activities.  

AYICC Network Overview


  • NETWORK DEVELOPMENT AND PARTNERSHIP DEVELOPMENT (Resource identification, Survey of existing youth climate groups, Survey rural and urban areas requiring youth actions on climate, Partnership identification)

  • COMMUNICATION TOOLS (Website expansion, Development of an ongoing series of video case studies highlighting youth led projects and success stories, Research on climate related issues and compilation of data on Indigenous and other ecological knowledge such as perma-culture)

  • SCHOOL AND UNIVERSITY INITIATIVES (Development of a African Sustainable Campuses project similar to and in cooperation with the Canadian Sierra Youth Coalition Sustainable Campus program, Development of Solar-Generation groups on campuses, Capacity-building workshops, Long-term: Youth entrepreneurial Renewable energy projects, Long-term: scholarships and bursaries programs)

Organisational Structure


  • GENERAL ASSEMBLY (All members (each active member has one vote) approve steering committees action plans, elect steering committee, discuss relevant issues)
  • STEERING COMMITTEE (Two delegates per 6 African regions (North, East, West, Central, South and Island) or a two year term)

  • ADVISORY BOARD (Existing coordinating committee members, as well as representatives from NGOs, government, other youth networks and organizations)

  • NATIONAL COUNCIL (1 representative selected from and by each nation)

  • UMBRELLA ORGANIZATION/SECRATARIAT (Selected by Steering Committee for a two year period to provide assistance during AYICC development stage)
